Rabbit ControlBass Coast Shire Council is undertaking rabbit pest control in Council-managed Foreshore Reserves. A licenced contractor will be baiting foreshore reserve sites from late March until mid-April 2017. By Portal Admin - 4th April 2017 - Back to News The baiting program aims to minimise the impacts of rabbits on the indigenous vegetation in these conservation reserves, as well as reducing the affect on the nearby properties.
The targeted areas include Ventnor, Red Rocks, Cowes, Rhyll, Newhaven, Cape Woolamai and Kilcunda foreshores. Signage will be displayed on all access tracks and areas which will be affected.
Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Pamela Rothfield commented on the pest control program.
"The baiting program is important in upholding our responsibility to preserving and protecting our foreshores and reserves," Cr Rothfield said.
Dog owners should follow the normal Council regulations and have their dogs under control and on a lead when walking them in these areas.
