Darren Chester urges Landcare groups to apply for 2024 Community Grants with grants up to $20,000 by 20 September 2024
Federal MP Darren Chester highlights Gippsland's top Landcare groups, urging them to apply for the 2024 Landcare Australia Community Grants. Grants from $5,000 to $20,000 support vital environmental projects. Applications close September 20.
Gippsland is home to some of the nation's most passionate and successful Landcare groups, whose volunteers improve productivity and biodiversity to ensure their land and the environment are in better shape for future generations, according to Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester. "Local Landcare groups have a great capacity to be innovative and creative, and they are driven to achieve results and value for money," Mr Chester said.

Mr Chester said, "They undertake practical environmental work that has long-lasting benefits in improving water retention, infiltration, water recovery, water quality standards, adaptive management, and soil stabilisation. I love their work across Gippsland, which is why I am urging local Landcare groups to apply for the 2024 Landcare Australia Community Grants program."
The 2024 Landcare Australia Community Grants program, a national grants program launched by Landcare Australia earlier this month to support local Landcare and community environmental groups across the nation to deliver projects that address priority issues for the group, community and/or the environment, is now open.
"The newly launched Landcare Australia Community Grants program, in celebration of 35 years of Landcare Australia, is open to all Landcare and community groups across Australia that embrace the Landcare ethos," Mr Chester said.
Grants for environmental projects
Mr Chester added, "Grant applications from $5,000 to a maximum of $20,000 will support successful applicants in undertaking projects that address priority issues and may include educational workshops, restoring essential wildlife habitat, shelterbelts and fences, protecting our waterways, managing weeds and feral animals, working with Traditional Owners and First Nations organisations, hosting local community workshops, or purchasing plants and equipment, creating signage, amongst other landcare activities."
"The $300,000 grant program not only aims to support projects that focus on reviving nature, boosting biodiversity and supporting volunteers but also to celebrate the many groups that have and continue to make a significant contribution to caring for our environment across Australia," Mr Chester concluded.
For more information, including guidelines and criteria for the 2024 Landcare Australia Community Grants program or to apply, go to Landcare Australia website. Applications close Friday, September 20.
