Veterans Grants Announced for Projects in Gippsland to Commemorate the Service Of Victoria’s Veterans
Yarram Aero club will receive funding through the Victoria Remembers Minor Grants Program for a project to tell the story of the first Military air mission based out of Yarram, Victoria.
Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Harriet Shing today announced that Yarram Aero club will receive funding through the Victoria Remembers Minor Grants Program for a project to tell the story of the first Military air mission based out of Yarram, Victoria. It will inform how the mission came about and what type of aircraft was used.
Victoria Remembers Minor grants provide funding for projects which honour or commemorate the service and sacrifice of veterans and educate the community about the contribution made by our veterans in their service to the nation and the state. The program also provides funding to organisations to assist with the educational needs of veterans' dependants.
The Victoria Remembers Minor Grants Program is available to community organisations, local councils and educational institutions.
There will be two funding rounds of the Victoria Remembers Minor Grant Program this year and organisations wishing to apply for funding for ANZAC Day 2019 commemorative services are encouraged to apply in July 2018.

Quotes attributable to Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Harriet Shing:
"It was a pleasure to support the club’s application to transform a hangar and display the history of the plane used in the first military air mission from Yarram in WWI and the work of Mission Pilot Captain Frank McNamara VC - I’m absolutely delighted that the club’s hard work to recognise our aviation history has been recognised."
Quotes attributable to the Minister for Veterans, John Eren MP
"It is through community projects such as these that all Victorians can learn more about our war related heritage and the stories of the brave women and men who have served their nation."
