will remove six contractors and their crews," Mr Ingram said.

"This will place many workers, their families and related businesses in extreme hardship. "VicForests has explained that the cutbacks are required due to lack of available timber resource. "This is another unacceptable broken promise to the industry as it comes so soon after the State Government stated there would be no loss of jobs and resource would from the last election commitment to create an additional 45,000 hectares of old growth national parks. "As a further blow, the Department of Sustainability and Environment has released a draft of

the informal reserves setting aside a further 116,000 hectares further restricting the industry. "During the last election, I said the resource was not available to have both the parks and protect local jobs. This is why I opposed the new parks when the matter came before Parliament last year.

"As the only member of State Parliament who voted against the parks, I am proud of my record in supporting and standing up for the timber industry.

"As the State election looms, Labor and the Liberal/Nationals are running around striking preference deals with the Melbourne Greens, and the timber industry receives nothing more than another blow," Mr Ingram concluded.
