More outdoor trading over summer period to be encouraged by Bass Coast Shire Council
Bass Coast Shire Council will once again transform outdoor spaces to encourage more outdoor trading over the coming summer period.
Continuing from the success of last year's outdoor trading initiatives across the Shire, Council is once again encouraging businesses to consider how they can expand their operations to include more outdoor trading.
Expressions of Interest (EOI) will be reviewed from 15 December 2021 on an ongoing basis until all places are filled for the summer
Opportunity to support local businesses
As part of this initiative, Council would like to hear from Cowes based businesses interested in temporarily operating from Olive Justice Place over January. Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Michael Whelan said this exciting program offered a great opportunity for Cowes businesses to gain extra exposure over the busy summer period.
"We welcome creative ideas on how you can activate Olive Justice Place, to make it work for you and your business. It would be fantastic to hear from hospitality, beauty or retail businesses considering pop-up shops, community groups, children's entertainers, artists or creatives, or anyone else who thinks that this prominent space would work for them." Cr Whelan said.
Cr Whelan said that Christmas and summer provided a really fantastic opportunity for communities to support local businesses. "Our traders have been doing it tough over the past two years, so I would really like to encourage locals and visitors to support locals when they can," Cr Whelan said.
Send your expression of interest
Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Trading in Olive Justice Place is open to Cowes based businesses and will be reviewed from 15 December on an ongoing basis until all places are filled. Dates will be offered on a weekly basis from 26 December to 31 January. Applicants can select their preferred dates during the application process.
More information about the EOI, including guidelines and the application form can be found at Olive Justice Place Expression of Interest. This program is part of the State Government's COVIDSafe Outdoor Activation Fund.
