Over 20,000 bumper stickers have been produced by Go To… and Employment Innovations Victoria. They feature the slogan ‘Experience Gippsland – The Right Side of Victoria’ and are freely available to Gippsland residents and people visiting the region.

Experience Gippsland is a united tourism campaign encouraging visitors to all areas of Gippsland. It is operated in partnership between tourism bodies, local councils, and private operators.

Mr Chris Buckingham Principal of Go To… a local marketing and communications company, said: ‘We want people to plaster these stickers on their cars, boats, bicycles and anywhere that people are going to see them. Gippslanders have good reason to be proud of where they live and these stickers are a tool that they can use to show it.’

Mr Frank Norden, Tourism Development officer for Wellington Shire and spokesperson for Experience Gippsland, said: ‘We were delighted when Go To… approached us and asked us if we would like support for a bumper sticker campaign for Gippsland. The timing is great as thousands of people visit the region over the summer months. We are also hopeful that Gippslanders who go on holiday will put these stickers on their cars and caravans and act as ambassadors for our region.

Mr Buckingham added: ‘The Experience Gippsland Campaign is an effective brand for the region - it allows people to make a positive statement about where they live, work and play. Gippsland really is a great region. One of the things we can all work on is how we promote ourselves to the rest of the world.’

Peter White, Managing Director of Employment Innovations Victoria, is the other major sponsor of the bumper sticker campaign. His business supported the successful development of the ‘Gippsland Has it All’ sticker that was released nearly two years ago. Mr White said: ‘We saw this as a fantastic opportunity to put something back into the Gippsland region and we recognise tourism as a great way of promoting the region.’

Mr White continued: ’As a local employment company we know that things are on the move in Gippsland. There is a sense of optimism about the future of the region and we think that this sticker campaign will be well supported by the community.’

Mr Norden concluded: ‘The Experience Gippsland bumper sticker campaign is a positive partnership between local government, business and community. If people get behind the campaign and use the stickers to promote their region this Summer we will do it again.’

Stickers are available from Employment Innovations Victoria offices and Visitor Information Centres or can be ordered online at www.goto.net.au
