Council Staff Celebrate Milestones

Bass Coast Shire Council has recognised the contribution of a number of staff who served more than 10 years, at a special presentation.

Staff members were presented with a certificate and pen by Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Neville Goodwin.

A number of the staff began their service with the previous shires of Wonthaggi, Phillip Island and Bass.

Council�s Chief Executive Officer, Allan Bawden, acknowledged the dedication and commitment given by staff over their terms of service with Council.

"The knowledge and experience of staff who have worked in the community for this length of time is an invaluable resource for both Council and the community," he said.

Bass Coast Shire Council�s Chief Executive Officer, Allan Bawden received two awards. The first award acknowledged his eleven years at Bass Coast. Mr Bawden was also presented with a plaque from the International City/Country Management Association (ICMA), recognising 30 years of service to local government.

Council�s Community Safety Manager, Peter Laydon received an award acknowledging the work of his team on the Community Safety Plan, which was recently adopted by Council.

A presentation was also made to Murray Kent and Rod Potts for their work on the restoration of the Wonthaggi Railway Station. The restoration won an award for Architectural Excellence in the South East (Best Building Conservation Category).

30 years service

Christine Burgan, Revenue Officer

25 years service

Peter Britt, Works Team Member

15 years service

Keitha van�t Hof, Administration Officer

10 years or more service

Allan Bawden, Chief Executive Officer

Sam Bennett, Executive Assistant

Paul Burns, Gardener

Julie Byron, Immunisation Nurse
