Mountain bike trails at Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort are now open and perfect activity in Gippsland over summer
Biking season at Mt Baw Baw is now open, with essential bookings suited for your convenience.
The much-anticipated mountain biking season at Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort is upon us! The final piece of Mt Baw Baw's thrill-seeking puzzle, DH1, was put into place this week, leaving all trails now open.

Mountain bike trails for all levels
Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort has mountain biking trails for all levels of competency, from DH1's thrilling double black diamond descent to family-friendly Latrobe and Beech Trails. With regular MTB Gravity Shuttles now operating and eMTB and bike hire available, riders can also save those quad muscles for the fun parts.
At 1500m altitude, the mountain is about 10 degrees cooler than sea level, making for perfect riding temperatures over summer! There are no resort entry fees during summer and no need to book.
Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort is not just a ski resort, it also offers spectacular alpine landscape and mountainous terrain for adventure and a unique experience all year round
Biking trails
There's a trail to suit all riders, from enthusiastic beginners to experienced thrill-seekers.
- Latrobe Trail: 500m, Level 1
- Beech Trail: 800m, Level 1
- Summit Trail: 2.3km, Level 2
- Village and McMillan's Trail: 3.5km, Level 2
- Mueller's Trail: 500m, Level 3
- DH1: 300m, Level 3

DH1 biking tracks
DH1 encompasses an exhilarating 300m altitude descent down Mt Baw Baw from the Restaurant to the Old Chairlift Corner. An old school downhill trail with multiple lines rated black diamond or double black depending on the line you take. The MTB Gravity Shuttles will return you to the top and allow you as many rides as you can manage in a day.
All riders using this trail are required to wear full face helmets with body armour recommended. Avoid riding this trail on your own and ride to your ability
MTB Gravity shuttles
With the cost of $35 per adult and $35 per child per day. Shuttles run from the bottom of DH1, AM1 and Village Central Restaurant, with drop offs at Summit on request. Shuttles operate between 9am and 4pm on Saturdays (Sundays subject to booking demand). See the summer timetable here.

Gravity shuttles are now online and will commence January 2nd. In 2022 shuttles will operate on Saturdays* , extra "overflow" dates will be confirmed on Sundays subject to demand and booking levels.

Mt Baw Baw's mountain biking trail is also ideal for cross-country and downhill riding, trails come complete with raised decking to ensure that weather conditions don't interfere with the ride
