Mallacoota Golf Course reopens after bushfire rebuild, marking major community recovery milestone and regional investment success

Mallacoota Golf Course officially reopens after Black Summer bushfires, marking $2 million redevelopment, community recovery, and celebration of volunteers, local investment, and regional sporting facilities in the Mallacoota-Genoa district.

Darren Chester had the honour of hitting the first ball on the course after helping to secure almost $2 million in funding following the Black Summer bushfires. "The new facilities are a credit to the volunteers, designers, tradespeople and everyone who played a role in redeveloping the course into a links-style layout which provides a challenge for players of all levels," Mr Chester said.

Celebrating local recovery

Mr Chester said, "What a day with the legends at Mallacoota Golf Club inviting me to hit the official first ball at the redeveloped course. I was more stressed with the one-wood than when I tee-off in Federal Parliament."

"Well done to the volunteers and everyone who played a role in making this dream come true, we had to fight hard for a Black Summer bushfires grant and the community has worked for several years to redevelop the links-style course. It’s a hub for the community with a growing juniors program and a friendly bistro!" said Mr Chester.
