The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O'Brien is encouraging local students to enter the 2023 Parliament Prize competition. "This year the Parliament Prize is asking students from Grade 5 to Year 12 what they would say to Parliament if they were an MP. Mr O'Brien said, "A Member's Statement is an opportunity for elected members to make a brief statement in Parliament on matters of interest and concern to them and the people of their electorate in no more than 90 seconds. Students wishing to enter the competition can submit a video recording of themselves or use an animated avatar."
"I visit and speak with students from our local schools regularly so I know there are a lot of students with great ideas who would perform brilliantly at such a task," Mr Chester said.
The competition is open to Victorian primary and secondary school students from Year 5 through to 12, with age categories of Years 5-6, Years 7-9 and Years 10-12. Students can win $500 for themselves, as well as $1,000 for their school. To enter, or for more information on the competition including entry terms and conditions visit The Parliament Prize 2023 page. Entries close 5pm, Friday 16 June 2023.
