for the establishment of a temporary car park in time for the weekend.

Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Ed Vermeulen, said that the agreement had come at an extremely opportune time, in the busy lead-up to Christmas.

"This site will be an all-day parking zone and parking will be free. It has certainly come at a handy point in time with the Christmas trading period currently at its height. The agreement will be in place at least until the end of the March next year.

"Council is pleased to be able to offer this further solution to ease parking issues in the Traralgon, having already extended the time zones for on-street parking in the CBD to two hour limits a fortnight ago," Cr Vermeulen said.

"Works will be undertaken by Council staff over the next 48 hours to tidy up the site; however it is expected to be fully operational before the weekend.

"We would remind drivers that there is a permit area (24 spaces) within the car park which is only to be utilised by the tenants of the owners of the site (CFA). Drivers should be mindful to park in the correct bays. Signage will be erected to alert drivers to the areas in which they can park," Cr Vermeulen explained.

Cr Vermeulen added that Council was grateful to Alamin Pty Ltd for entering into this agreement, especially at such a pertinent time.

"This is the second time it has been allowed. The first time was when the multi-storey car park was constructed in 2008," Cr Vermeulen concluded.
