East Gippsland Marketing will not extend its contract with council beyond June 2025, concluding services in April. The organization will continue reviewing strategic opportunities for regional growth and development.
East Gippsland Marketing (EGMI) has decided not to seek a further extension to its contract with East Gippsland Shire Council for the delivery of marketing services beyond June 2025. This decision also includes withdrawing from the final quarter of the existing contract agreement, effectively concluding this arrangement from the beginning of April 2025.
EGMI will withdraw from the final quarter of its contract, continuing strategic reviews to explore new community development opportunities
Honouring volunteer spirit
The EGMI Board recently completed a review of its strategic business plan and a decision was made to withdraw the delivery of marketing services to council. EGMI will continue its strategic review, bringing a new perspective on opportunities supporting the growth and development of the community for their partners and businesses across East Gippsland.
EGMI would like to thank the East Gippsland Shire Council and acknowledge the collaborative relationship and support between the two organisations since 2009. Council CEO Fiona Weigall said the broader East Gippsland community had been a beneficiary of council's collaborative relationship with EGMI over the last 16 years. "We thank EGMI and its volunteer board for their valued contribution in delivering marketing activities on behalf of council over this period," Ms Weigall said.
Promoting East Gippsland
Ms Weigall added, "We are committed to the continued delivery of marketing activities for East Gippsland under the pillars of Visit, Invest, Work and Live. Our team is putting interim measures in place for the continuation of core marketing activities, particularly around tourism, which has been a focus of EGMI's work."
"EGMI will support this transition. The longer-term approach to marketing and promoting our region as a place to live, work and play will be worked through with council over the coming months," she said.
EGMI was established in 2009 as a not-for-profit organisation focused on driving economic and community sustainability by attracting visitors, residents, workers and investors to the region, supported by the broader business community.
