The dinner will be held at Commercial Hotel, Heyfield Friday 12 October from 7pm.

Carolyn is the co-author of ‘Jackson's Track: Memoir of a Dreamtime Place’ and author of ‘Jackson’s Track revisited- history, remembrance and reconciliation’.

Jackson’s Track’ tells the story of Daryl Tonkin, the books co-author. Tonkin is a white Australian bushman who, with his brother, Harry bought a tract of forested land near the Gippsland township of Drouin in 1937. They set up a mill and began to employ Aborigines as woodcutters and sawmillers.

Stephen Dempsey, Manager of Cultural Services for Wellington Shire said meeting the author is a fantastic opportunity.

"Talking directly to an author gives an insight into their work and experiences. Carolyn’s story is especially interesting. She came to meet Tonkin after teaching his grandchildren. Each week she would visit him to piece together from his yarns the unique story of Jackson’s Track."

Jackson’s Track’ won the Victorian Community History Awards in 2000.

The author talk is free and meals are available at regular prices.
