The fires are at:

Mealing Hill, five kilometres west of Wangarabelle (going)

Tonghi, four kilometres west of Cann River (contained)

Fire crews from DSE and Parks Victoria have responded rapidly to these fires, with two contained and four brought under control by Sunday afternoon.

Further lightning strikes are causing concern with the possibility of more fires starting.

Nine aircraft and two rappel crews are being deployed to support 86 firefighters on the ground.

There have been reports of exceptional efforts by both air and ground crews to get the fires rounded up quickly.
