Staff Celebrate Service Milestones

Bass Coast Shire Council held a special morning tea for ten staff who reached milestones of 10 to 30 years of local government service.

Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Allan Bawden and Mayor, Cr Veronica Dowman, presented milestone awards to recognise the dedication and commitment of staff over their years of service.

"Between them, these staff have over 165 years experience and service to the Bass Coast community," said Mr Bawden.

"They are held in high regard by their colleagues which showed in the speeches made at the presentation."

This year, several staff within the Infrastructure team celebrated milestones and were acknowledged for being committed to the organisation and supportive of their co-workers.

Those who reached 10 years of service were; Bill Blanch a committed member of Council’s Road Maintenance team; Brian Scarce who completed his apprenticeship with the Road Maintenance team; and Chris Lodge who completed an apprenticeship in horticulture with the Parks and Gardens maintenance team.

Also recognised were Cindy Pizzol, Infrastructure Administration Officer who achieved fifteen years service; Barry Davidson who operates a range of heavy plant and equipment for Major Construction team and large projects, celebrating 20 years; and Peter Britt who started work with the Shire of Bass 30 years ago.

Others celebrating 10 years were Noelene Hogton, Property Scanning Officer; Leanne du Plessis, Customer Service Officer; Sharon Fowles, Governance Manager and Matt Finlay, IT Team Leader.

Frank Angarane, Council’s Events Coordinator celebrated 30 years of service and was praised for his strong ties with the local community. Frank’s 30 years included roles at the Shire of Bass and the current Council, working first as an engineer and more recently as the Events Coordinator.

Mayor, Cr Dowman congratulated the staff members on their dedication and level of service they provide to the community.
"The attitude these staff members have to their work and the way they go about their business is to be commended," said Cr Dowman.

Mr Bawden also acknowledged the achievement of Council’s Transport Connections Facilitator, Sue Whyte, who has completed her PHD after five years of study. Her Thesis is titled"The possibilities of sea change: A study of urban to rural migration, self and place in Gippsland."

"What makes Bass Coast Shire Council a great place to work and a strong organisation are the people; it’s something we know is worth investing in," said Mr Bawden.
