Boost in local economy

According to the council's state of the Shire report, 27% of resident's money is spent outside the region. This results in reduced employment opportunities, decreased economic growth and less investment in the local community. Shop Eat Love Local aims to tackle this issue by encouraging our community to support local businesses to invest in the local economy, which ultimately leads to a stronger, more vibrant Bass Coast community.

To launch our new campaign, council is running a competition from 6 March to 30 September 2023 for all our dedicated, local shoppers. Customers who spend $20 or more at participating local businesses can enter a monthly draw for a chance to win a $200 hamper of local products, provided by council.

Monthly prize draw

A random draw for winners will take place monthly, with prize winners announced via Shop Local and Make a Difference page and the Bass Coast Shire Council social media channels. 115 businesses across Bass Coast have already signed up to participate in the competition, and we invite more to join us.

By shopping locally, residents not only support these businesses and our local economy, but also contribute to a stronger, more resilient Bass Coast community. For more information, including how to enter, a list of participating businesses plus how to get involved if you are a local business, please visit the Shop Local and Make a Difference page.
