The Community Fun Day will be taking place on Saturday 12th of August at the Lakes Entrance Primary School, Myer Street Lakes Entrance, from 10.00am to 2.00pm.

As we aim to reach as many families as possible, entry to this exciting event, filled with educational and fun activities, will be FREE and includes a FREE BBQ lunch, and two visits from ‘Dorothy the Dinosaur’ at 10.30 and 1.30 on the day.

The aim of this day is for children and their families to have fun celebrating the early years and to promote the hard work taking place in East Gippsland to support children and families. It will be a unique opportunity to provide current information regarding the importance of the formative early years to families, carers and the broader community.

The day will consist of fun activities and learning opportunities for children of all ages, including jumping castles, face painting, entertainment, art and craft, playgroup activities, kidz fit program with the YMCA and much more.

There will be many information stands and parents will receive information on issues such as; oral and nutritional health, the importance of physical activity / healthy active lifestyles, road safety, promotion of the benefits of breastfeeding, information about services and support available and much more.

The C4C is a four-year community strengthening initiative funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Family and Community Services and Indigenous Affairs. Kilmany UnitingCare is the Facilitating Partner for this program which aims to improve outcomes for children aged 0-6 years of age in East Gippsland.

This forum is being hosted by the Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH) as part of the Communities for Children Program (C4C). "The forum will provide a unique ‘local’ opportunity for early years workers from across East Gippsland to network, get in touch with the latest early years research and evidence and find out about current local initiatives" said Eva Grunden the forum organiser. Anyone who works with Children and Families in East Gippsland is encouraged to attend.

Keynote speaker, June McLoughlin from the CCCH will present participants with an update of the current early years evidence and promising practice. Ms McLoughlin will also facilitate a discussion and debate session regarding the relevant local early years issues workers in East Gippsland face.
