Loizuo Design & Construction Engineering awarded $111,000 for Grantville Foreshore Public Toilet renovations starting May 2024
Bass Coast Shire Council awarded Loizuo Design & Construction Engineering a $111,000 contract for Grantville Foreshore Public Toilet renovations. Construction starts May 2024.
Bass Coast Shire Council has awarded a contract to Loizuo Design & Construction Engineering to carry out construction at the Grantville Foreshore Public Toilet. Over the last few months, Council has been working with the designer & contractor to finalise the detailed design, building permits and approvals in readiness for these works to start at this location.
Grantville Foreshore Public Toilet renovations aim to renew community facilities, ensuring universal access, safety, and compliance with Australian Standards
Grantville toilet renovation
The total project cost is in the order of $111,000 which is fully funded by Council as part of Building and Open Space renewal program. Construction onsite is anticipated to start early in May 2024 and is expected to be completed at the end of June 2024, subject to favourable weather, contractor, and supplier availability.
Council recognises that it can be a challenge to deliver the necessary works and not affect the residents and public users of these toilet facilities, especially when much of our work is determined by weather conditions. This project will deliver renewal of community facilities across the Bass Coast region as part of our objective in contributing to the surrounding community's social health and well-being.
The Grantville foreshore toilet block will be renovated with upgrades providing universal access, public safety and, importantly, meeting current Australia Standards. Changes (existing vs new) being made for this site are below:
- Existing - I x male cubicle + Urinal & 2 x female cubicles
- New - 2 x Compliant Unisex Accessible Toilet Cubicles
What to expect
- Existing toilet block will be renovated, and the floor plan changed
- Site will be fenced off with temporary site fencing and there will be no access to these toilets during construction
- Demolition of sections of brick walls
- Construction of concrete paths and Disabled Access Car Park to the perimeter of the building
- Signage will be displayed for nearest accessible toilet locations
- For further information on these accessible toilet locations, please visit Bass Coast Access for All website
- Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be implemented onsite during these works. This site will be a construction zone and for your own safety and others, there will be some access restrictions. Our contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions to foreshore users. We appreciate that these works may present an inconvenience and we ask for your patience during these times
- The use of plant and machinery including noisy, and vibration works during demolition and construction of the new toilet blocks
