Australia Day nomination
Nominating is easy and only takes a few minutes. Visit Australia Day page to read the guidelines and to nominate someone by Monday, 23 November 2020. The finalists and winners will be announced in the lead up to Australia Day in January 2021. This year's Bass Coast Citizen of the Year Don Turner, said it is an honour just to be nominated.
Mr Turner said, "Past award winners and nominees have had a huge influence on making Bass Coast such a great community. To be considered alongside this group is very humbling. Hopefully, I'm seen by others as something of a role model, that shows how the efforts of ordinary people can contribute to a better community."
"There are thousands of people doing great things in the Bass Coast community. Nearly all of these go unnoticed or unrecognised. Although people are not generally looking for public acknowledgement, it is not only appropriate for great volunteer and community work to be celebrated." Mr Turner concluded.
