Bass Coast Shire Council is pleased to announce the appointment of APS Drainage and Civil for the execution of major culvert relining works on Loch-Kernot Road, between Stewart Road and Garry Road, Kernot. Please refer to the attached map for the project location. Commencing on 13 May 2024, the construction works are estimated to span six weeks, subject to favourable weather conditions and the availability of contractors, suppliers, and materials.

The project's $750,000 budget comes from LRCIP Phase 4B ($532,000) and the council's 2023/24 Capital Works Program ($218,000). It aims to fortify the road against erosion

Infrastructure funding

The total budget allocated for this crucial infrastructure project is $750,000. This funding is sourced partly from the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCIP) Phase 4B, amounting to $532,000, and partly from the council's 2023/24 Capital Works Program, contributing $218,000. This project's main objective is to rejuvenate the culvert structure and fortify the road against erosion at the specified location.

What to expect

  • Relining of the existing 2400mm diameter by 43.0 metres long culvert pipe, including grouting works, installation of new headwalls, rock beaching, and minor vegetation removal
  • Construction zone will be established for safety purposes. Approved traffic measures will be in place throughout the construction period. All necessary works approvals and permits have been obtained from relevant agencies
  • Utilisation of heavy plant and machinery, including activities such as earthworks and the use of trucks/cranes for transporting concrete, culverts, and materials to the site
  • While we understand that these works may cause inconveniences to nearby properties, we kindly ask for patience during this period. Our contractor will make diligent efforts to minimise disruptions

Traffic will be limited to one lane throughout the works, so we advise planning your commute accordingly. Emergency vehicle access to properties will be maintained at all times.
