Cowes Starts the Year on the Right PathCouncil prepares to commence construction of two new paths and the renewal of an existing path as part of its 2020/21 Capital Works Program. By Portal Admin - 20th January 2021 - Back to News Cowes is set to receive multiple new footpaths as Bass Coast Shire council prepares to commence construction of two new paths and the renewal of an existing path as part of its 2020/21 Capital Works Program.
Construction of two new paths, one 180-metre long path along Settlement Road from Maxwell Street to Red Rocks Road and a second 166-metre long path, extending from Red Rocks Road to Cypress Court, is set to begin in mid- February and anticipated to take eight weeks to complete. This work is fully funded by Council through developer contributions in the order of $110,000,
The existing path on Roydon Street in Cowes, will also be upgraded with construction set to begin this week and is estimated to be completed in two weeks. The 35-metre long and 1.5 metre path with reinforced 100mm concrete. This work is also funded by Council and will cost around $16,000.
Both projects will provide improved access for pedestrians and give residents along these streets and the greater community, a safe connection to the existing path network.
For the safety of the community each of these areas will become construction zones. Council understands that construction of these new pathways may present some inconvenience to local residents and appreciates their patience. The contractors will make every effort to minimise disruptions.
