Revitalising Orbost recreation

Mr Chester said, "I was able to convince the previous federal government to allocate $1.3 million from its Regional Recovery Partnerships program for the Forest Park redevelopment effort in 2021. Improving the old, tired facilities has revitalised and modernised Orbost's recreation area, visitor rest-stop and gateway to the East Gippsland Rail Trail, which will encourage more travellers to take a break.

"The works have included a new toilet and amenities block, increased parking, an upgraded playground and installation of a picnic area, which all complements the restoration of the Snowy River trestle bridge and the East Gippsland Rail Trail."

"Local firm Whelans Group Investments has carried out the work, with landscaping completed by Elite Concreting and Landscaping. We need to continue to invest in community infrastructure that will encourage visitors to stay longer in our region and support our local businessesMr Chester said.
