Cafe temporary closure

The Dock Cafe will pause service from Sunday 17 May, with the final day of trade on Saturday 16 May. Following a closure of less than three weeks, the cafe will reopen on Friday evening 5 June, ahead of a busy period at the Gippsland Art Gallery.

The Dock Cafe is a popular meeting place within the Port of Sale precinct and is often enjoyed alongside a visit to the gallery or nearby services. This upgrade will improve comfort and functionality, helping the cafe continue to meet community expectations into the future.

Planned cafe upgrade

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Cr Cindy Madeley said the timing of the works had been planned carefully. "We know how important the Dock Cafe is to the community, so this is a short and focused closure of the cafe only. Everything else at the Port of Sale remains open, and the cafe will be back very quickly with improvements people can enjoy," Cr Madeley said.

The reopening will align with a Friday night Winter Season Launch at the Gippsland Art Gallery, giving visitors an early chance to enjoy the refreshed space before regular trade resumes the following day. Further updates will be shared as work commences. Watch our socials for more updates.
