Roads Drive Community Meeting In San Remo

Over 100 community members turned out in San Remo to discuss traffic management changes needed to accommodate a new residential development in the area.

By Bass Coast - 14th February 2012 - Back to News

The development is associated with Amendment C105 and Amendment C103.

The meeting was convened by local residents to inform the San Remo community about these issues and discuss possible solutions.
Representatives from Bass Coast Shire Council and Island Views Estate developers were also at the meeting on 4 February meeting.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Veronica Dowman, said the meeting was expertly chaired by local community member Bob Andrews.
"At the meeting a number of Bonwick Avenue representatives presented their concerns about a possible road link to the new growth areas.

"The community made it clear that they had no intent to slow down the planning processes for Amendment C105 and the consideration of the Development Plan for land rezoned via Amendment C103. Understandably they were seeking certainty about the ultimate road network," said Cr Dowman.

The group called for Council to continue with the San Remo Access Strategy, and based on this consensus, Council agreed to organise the first community workshop for the Strategy in early March.

"We are pleased that the community made a number of resolutions which will be forwarded to Council for consideration," continued Cr Dowman.

"It was a very productive meeting and a great opportunity to understand some of the key concerns of the San Remo community."
The land in Amendments C105 is located in the area bounded by Shetland Heights Road, Potters Hill Road, Phillip Island Road and the eastern edge of the San Remo township.

Council will consider the C105 Panel Report and the Development Plan for Amendment C103 at the Council meeting on 15 February 2012, held at the Civic Centre in Wonthaggi.
