and agencies on ideas for improving their community.

The discussion took place as part of the current ‘Community Voices’ pilot project, which uses a group computer with multiple keyboards to allow community members of all ages to record their thoughts and ideas. As all views are recorded, it enables everyone participating to have an influence on the future of their neighbourhood and its surrounding communities.

Discussion on improvements put forward at the project session included traffic calming measures out side of Elizabeth Primary School, better street signage and better seating in and around the school.

Elizabeth Street school principal, Julie Curtis, was very impressed with the Community Voices session, indicating that the students felt highly valued and motivated by the experience.

"The experience supported the style of student leadership that the school has developed this year, fostering input and making student decision making an integral part of all we do," Mrs Curtis said. "Linking this to ways we can support our local community enhanced the value of the activity."

Heather Farley, coordinator community development Latrobe City, said the Community Voices session had enabled local residents to learn from each other in an informative set of community discussions.

"It has been a very useful way of capturing information and will help us work with the community to further develop the area," Ms Farley said.

"It was clearly evident from the process that there is an increasing sense of community pride in the Moe Heights area," Ms Farley added.

The extensive information gathered in the session will be returned to all participants for their future use and will play a key role in setting the direction of the Latrobe Valley Neighbourhood Alliance program.
