Federal Local Economic Recovery program funds $1.4 million for improvements to Buchan streetscape in East Gippsland
Buchan streetscape will be upgraded thanks to Federal Government funding through the Local Economic Recovery Program.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester announced $1.4 million in Federal Government funding towards the $2.9 million project. Mr Chester said the roads would be configured to optimise parking, landscaping would be undertaken, and street furniture would add to the appeal of the area.

Improving town cohesiveness
Mr Chester said, "The installation of the shared paths will link the main street to the Buchan Caves campsite and the recreation reserve to improve the cohesiveness of the town. East Gippsland Shire Council is currently consulting with the community to look at a detailed design on the link between Buchan Caves and the main street."
Upgrade to support local economy
Mr Chester said these upgrades would encourage people to stop and take a break in our region which in turn will support the local economy. "Investing in better facilities on public land is good for tourism and the liveability of our local communities," Mr Chester said.
"Further investment in infrastructure like shared pathways, exercise tracks and bike trails in Buchan will complement natural attractions and boost local jobs." Mr Chester also said. This project is a partnership between Federal, State and Local governments.
