Independent Member for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, in State Parliament this week called on the Minster for Environment to guarantee more resources available for wild dog control.

"Farmers in my electorate have been loosing devastating numbers of stock to wild dogs," Mr Ingram said.

"The impact of the wild dogs is right across East Gippsland, but is particularly distressing in the areas that were impacted by the 2003 wild fires.

"There has been a vast increase in the number of wild dogs and this has led to an increase in attacks and sheep losses to producers.

"Many constituents have contacted my office expressing their concerns and outlining the devastating impact of the wild dog problem not only on the farmers, but also on the native fauna.

"I understand the impact of the wild dog problem and have called on the Minister in Parliament to take action to ensure those producers are protected," Mr Ingram concluded.
