Danny Eddy rocks the Gallery

Local guitarist and vocalist, Danny Eddy, recently performed at the Latrobe Regional Gallery to an enthusiastic audience that enjoyed one of the most diverse set lists performed by a single musician.

Latrobe City Box Office Co-ordinator, Kathleen Roberts, said that years of performing at countless pubs and weddings has caused Danny to reject

‘standard’ and ‘safe’ performances.

"The songs that seem to be the staple of every guitarist in every venue, that are played every other night of the week, hold little fascination to Danny. He loves labouring to bring less likely hits to life on the guitar and he brilliantly adapts keyboard-drenched hits from the eighties into beautiful keyboard melodies.

"Danny is also a complete entertainer who clearly enjoys interacting with his audience, and this was demonstrated during his performance at the Gallery. His experience as a musician shines when he is on stage, and it is no wonder as Danny regularly plays solo gigs, performs as part of the popular duo ‘Battered Sav’, and is also a member of local band ‘The Duskers’," Ms Roberts added.

Danny explained that he adores attempting the seemingly impossible when he is on stage and he revels in the ridiculous, taking on anything from Britney Spears to Barry Manilow.

"It all started when some guy challenged me to play some Holly Valance. ‘Kiss Kiss’ just translated beautifully to the acoustic guitar. And it was funny as! Abba to Zappa, it’s all fair game," Danny said.

"I love silencing a room with some true musicianship and then seeing the audience crack up at something totally dorky," Danny added.

The Danny Eddy concert was a Box Office Event, an initiative of Latrobe Performing Arts and presented in partnership with mecu. Box Office Events provides an opportunity for young people to get together in a fun environment to network and socialise. It is a stimulant to introduce young Gippsland professionals to the Performing and Visual Arts whilst enjoying the company of other like minded people.
