Staff Milestones Celebrated

Bass Coast Shire Council acknowledged eight staff for reaching their milestones of between 10 and 30 years at a special morning tea held last Wednesday.

Council’s Chief Executive Officer, Allan Bawden and Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Peter Paul, presented milestone awards at the ceremony to recognise the dedication and commitment of staff over their years of service.

"Between them, these staff have over 120 years experience and service to the Bass Coast community," said Mr Bawden.

"They are held in high regard by their colleagues which showed in the speeches made at the presentation."

Mayor, Cr Peter Paul also congratulated the staff members on their commitment and level of service they provide to the community.

"The attitude these staff members have to their work and the way they go about their business is to be commended," said Cr Paul.

Council’s Corporate Services Director, Danny Luna, celebrated his 30 year-milestone.

"Danny started his career with Council at the Borough of Wonthaggi in 1980. He has seen and been a part of a remarkable amount of change throughout his career and the knowledge and skills he brings to his roles is a real asset to the organisation," said Cr Paul.

The following staff were recognised for achieving their milestones:

  • Richard Clarkson, Parks Supervisor,10 years
  • Alan Wright, Home Maintenance Officer, 10 years
  • Helen Bowes, Town Planning ,10 years
  • Tony Boreham, Gardener,10 years
  • Ken Hore, Tourism Manager, 10 years
  • Jim Farr, Finance Manager, 15 years
  • Charlie Ware, Major Maintenance Supervisor, 25 years
  • Danny Luna, Corporate Services Director, 30 years

Mr Bawden also presented Council’s Town Planner, Helen Bowes with an award for Professional Development and Learning for her commitment and dedication to continual learning.

Helen has recently successfully completed her Certificate IV in Local Government (Planning) at Swinburne and has since enrolled in the Graduate Diploma in Planning at La Trobe University.

"What makes Bass Coast Shire Council a great place to work and a strong organisation are the people; it’s something we definitely have right here," said Mr Bawden.
