Road Safety Boost for Bass Coast SchoolsImprovements for kids and families' safety around Inverloch/Kongwak Primary School and Newhaven College. By Portal Admin - 12th November 2018 - Back to News The Andrews Labor Government is improving safety around Inverloch/Kongwak Primary School and Newhaven College, introducing a range of improvements aimed at keeping kids and families safe.
As part of the $100,000 upgrade, line-marking outside the pick-up and drop-off areas at Inverloch/Kongwak Primary School will be improved and changes to the parking layout to make it more functional for parents during peak times.
These improvements compliment the new 40km/h speed on Bayview Avenue (Korumburra-Inverloch Road) between Edgar Street and Garden Crescent that was introduced in September.
Newhaven College has also received $180,000 to replace the existing static school speed zone signs with new electronic signs, making it easier for drivers to identify and slow down as they enter the school zone.
More than 8,000 vehicles use this section of Phillip Island Road every day.
Upgrades at both schools will be complete for the first school day of term one 2019.
These improvements are being delivered as part of the Labor Government’s $5 million school road safety package, aimed at improving high-risk roads near local schools.
This road safety package was announced in the Victorian Budget 2018/19 and delivers upgrades, crossing improvements and electronic speed limit signs at school zones throughout Victoria.
