Survey to assess library use within the community

The Latrobe City Library Service is participating in a significant state-wide Victorian Research Project - Libraries Building Communities

By Latrobe City Council - 5th December 2003 - Back to News

Latrobe City Mayor, Councillor Graeme Middlemiss, said that the project aimed to identify and document the various ways public libraries contributed to community building.

"The aim is to establish who uses the library, what services they access, what services would be useful if not already provided and the value of the library to the community as a whole. The information can be collated to build an overview of library users state-wide, and can then be broken down to help local library services to meet their community’s needs," Cr Middlemiss explained.

The survey can be completed on-line in around 15 minutes, by accessing the following address -http://home.vicnet.net.au/~lvlib and then clicking the state wide library survey link.

Printed copies of the survey can also be completed at the Moe, Morwell and Traralgon library branches.

"We would urge as many library users as possible to complete the survey. It will give invaluable insight into how the libraries and their facilities are utilised and perceived, and how services can be better promoted or improved," Cr Middlemiss concluded.
