After another accident at the notorious Bank Street intersection in Traralgon last night, two Latrobe Valley Members of Parliament say lives are being put at risk because the state government has failed to finish the upgrades at a dangerous intersection. Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester and State Member for Morwell Martin Cameron are calling on the State Minister for Transport to urgently finish the works at the Bank Street intersection on the Princes Highway in Traralgon.

Delayed intersection completion

Mr Cameron said, "I was told the project would be done months ago and we are still waiting for a straight answer. The bank street intersection has been notorious for several years and it's not good enough to half finish the job."

Mr Chester said he was frustrated that the traffic lights haven't been installed despite the previous federal government providing more than $4 million for the project. "It's a complete farce that 12 months have passed since the roadworks were completed but the traffic signals still haven't been installed. We will not see the full safety benefit of this project until the state government does its job and links the railway signals to the intersection."
