Coalition pledges $50M to support Gippsland food charities and combat cost-of-living crisis
If the Coalition wins the May 3 federal election, $50 million will support Gippsland food charities, expanding services like school breakfast programs to aid those struggling with food insecurity.
Gippsland food charities will receive additional support if the Coalition wins the federal election on May 3. The Nationals have announced a $50 million investment to support food charities such as Food Bank, SecondBite, and OzHarvest in expanding their services, including school breakfast programs, to help Australians struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.

Food relief boost
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester said this was a major commitment that would deliver much-needed relief to local families who are doing it tough. "To put Labor's cost-of-living crisis into perspective, nearly two million Australian households of all age demographics have experienced severe food insecurity in the past 12 months."
"Thirty percent of households with mortgages and 46 per cent of renting households are being forced to skip meals just to keep a roof over their heads, and even working Australians can't afford the basics, with more than half of the households seeking food relief having at least one person in paid employment."
"If the Coalition wins the federal election on May 3, we will provide $50 million over three years to help food charities support Australians struggling under Labor's cost-of-living crisis," Mr Chester said.
