These include a number of infrastructure projects, but also the establishment of a working group to develop other strategies to reduce traffic congestion, said council chief executive officer Mr Glenn Patterson.

"The working group has been established because we believe that there are a number of workable solutions that don’t involve substantial money, which will also offer significant social and environmental benefits" Mr Patterson said.

The working group consists of representatives from the Warragul Business Group, Probus Warragul and council.

"We envisage that this group will consult with a number of stakeholders including schools, public transport companies, Department of Infrastructure (Public Transport Division), community transport operators, walking and cycling specialists, businesses and parents’ groups to devise a range of smart solutions," said Mr Patterson.

Council is also reviewing concept designs for underpasses at Latrobe and Normanby Streets, completing works that provide dual lanes at the Smith and Queen Streets roundabout and seeking external funding for the construction of any additional railway crossing.
