2021 Latrobe Regional Gallery new exhibitionsA fun and wonderful way to spend time with the family while expanding our creativity through art. By Portal Admin - 12th February 2021 - Back to News After a long wait we are so pleased to present our first new exhibition for 2021 - Da Vinci Machines. This is the first of a whole program of special exhibitions and events that celebrates our 50 Year Anniversary.
This exhibition merges art and science and features full scale constructions of Da Vinci’s master inventions created by the talented Artisans of Florence from his original drawings. It is designed to appeal to young and old alike, as we invite you to get curious and imagine how these brilliant inventions might inspire our community now and in years to come. I hope you enjoy everything we have to offer during Da Vinci Machines, and don’t forget our two special live performance events coming up in February - sure to surprise and delight!

Da Vinci Machines - Friday 26 February to Sunday 25 April
Explore the mind of Leonardo da Vinci. Spark your curiosity with creations and concepts devised more than 500 years ago by the brilliant artist, inventor and scientist, Leonardo da Vinci. With over 60 machines and artworks on display, the exhibition brings to life the most important and impressive designs of the Renaissance polymath, including the bicycle, spring-powered car, hang glider and airscrew the precursor to the helicopter.

Great Movements of Feeling Rosalind Crisp - 2.30pm Saturday 13 February
In this performance-lecture, Rosalind will draw out themes from her own work that resonate with the exhibition Great Movements of Feeling. For Rosalind as a live performer, the ‘impression’ of an artwork is a reciprocal force, the viewer also influencing the artwork being created with them in real time.

Art After School - March 2 to April 20 - 4:30pm to 5:30pm Tuesdays
In this eight week program kids will create a series of artworks using techniques and materials which respond to the Da Vinci Machines exhibition.

Super Saturdays - 1pm to 3pm FREE
Bring the kids down to The Workshop at LRG to unleash their creativity with weekly Super Saturday sessions throughout the Da Vinci Machines exhibition there will plenty of opportunity to unlock their inner inventor! To select a date for your registration on this program, please visit super Saturday
Slow Sundays - 2pm - 3pm FREE
In this guided tour participants will explore in depth the themes of Da Vinci Machines. Each week will focus on one of DaVinci’s many kinds of inventions from military machines to early flight designs, infrastructure and civil machines. Volunteer to help the LRG
We are looking for passionate people who love sharing in art experiences to volunteer with us. LRG provides positive and memorable experiences across a diverse range of exhibitions, education programs, public programs and events, and LRG volunteers are vital in ensuring the sustainability and quality of what we do. Volunteer tasks may include assisting with public programs, exhibition opening celebrations, special events, invigilating gallery spaces, presenting guided tours, welcoming visitors, conducting audience surveys, and much more.
