Sale College on Cobains Road gets $3M early works funding election pledge secured by Danny O'BrienThe Nationals in government will build a new Sale College, consolidating the current two campuses onto one new site in Cobains Road, Sale. By news@gippsland - 25th October 2022 - Back to News The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O'Brien was joined by Leader of The Nationals, Peter Walsh to make the announcement which will transform secondary education in the Sale district. Mr O'Brien said he had been campaigning for the consolidation of the campus for a number of years and was delighted he and Mr Walsh could announce that The Nationals in government would begin construction on a new site in Cobains Road.

I have been working with the College and Sale community for at least five years on a plan to consolidate into one site and it is clear this is a well-supported project within the community that will achieve the best outcome for all involved." "The school community, the Committee for Wellington and the Wellington Shire Council have all indicated that land in Cobains Road opposite the Gippsland Regional Sports Centre is a favoured option and this money will make that a reality." Mr O'Brien said. Improve the educational outcomesMr Walsh said the new school would be delivered as part of The Nationals and Liberals 25% Regional Infrastructure Funding Guarantee. "We know Labor has spent the vast bulk of its money in Melbourne at the expense of regional communities like Sale. We know the value of good public educational facilities and we'll ensure that Sale students have the best surroundings we can give them." "The $10 million initial allocation by The Nationals will be used to purchase land as well as early works and stage one of the new school build. The current campuses are old and tired and the school has previously expressed to me the difficulty of educating students across two campuses." "By consolidating onto a new campus we will give our students the very best opportunities available and improve the educational outcomes for our kids in the Sale district.
