Dispose of toxic household chemicals safely and for free at drive-through Detox Your Home events, thanks to Sustainability Victoria Protecting our environmentBass Coast Shire Council is proud to again be partnering with Sustainability Victoria to hold this event for our community. Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Rochelle Halstead, explained the importance of the event. "We have such a beautiful environment here in Bass Coast and this is just another way we're looking after it. By providing this event we see responsible disposal of old household cleaners and pesticides that people no longer want or need." "Pouring household chemicals down the drain can pollute our waterways, harm animals and vegetation, contaminate our water supply and make rivers and beaches unsafe for swimming. Safe disposal of household chemicals avoids harm to you, your family, pets and the environment," Cr Halstead explained. Detox your homeCr Halstead added, "In the past this event has been extremely popular with all the time slots filling up quickly. This is a testament to how much our community cares for the environment and really wants to do the right thing." "I encourage you to have a look in your cupboards, garage and shed to see if there's anything you might want to get rid of and book your place to dispose of it at the Detox Your Home event." Cr Halstead said. Toxic household chemicals, such as cleaning products, pool chemicals, pesticides and herbicides can be disposed of during the event.
