What’S On Over Summer At Latrobe City Libraries?Latrobe City libraries have developed an exciting entertainment program for children during the January school holidays. By Latrobe City - 16th December 2011 - Back to News Latrobe City Council’s coordinator libraries, Debbie Skinner, said that there was a variety of activities designed to entertain children of all ages.
"The Summer Reading Club is on once again, encouraging children to discover the simple pleasure of reading. Children can register at their local library, read ten books and also enter to be in the running for some great prizes. This competition closes on Monday 6 February.
"A special Teddy Bear’s Picnic storytime will be held at all Latrobe City libraries. Children are encouraged to bring their teddy bears or favourite soft toy to listen to the stories and then take part in simple craft activities," Ms Skinner said.
"Performer Anthony Verity is presenting a unique family show called Head for the Clouds which blends quirky mime, dance, clowning and magic with heaps of audience participation. Anthony has the ability to entertain, engage and enthral children and is sure to be a huge hit this summer.
"For the more creative types, there is Kites4Kids which introduces children to the wonders of kite making. Jo from Kites4Kids will guide children through the process of making and decorating their own kites. Perfect for summer evenings of fun," Ms Skinner concluded.
