GLCH and East Gippsland Shire Council launch Maternal and Child Health Services at Orbost Service Centre for local families

Gippsland Lakes Complete Health and East Gippsland Shire Council have launched maternal and child health services at the Orbost Service Centre, enhancing accessibility for families in Orbost and surrounding areas.

Gippsland Lakes Complete Health (GLCH) and East Gippsland Shire Council have teamed up to offer maternal and child health services from the Orbost Service Centre. Council was pleased to be able to convert what was a storage room into fit-for-purpose appointment and waiting rooms within the Orbost Service Centre building.

Accessible health services

Maternal and child health appointments are now available each Monday and Wednesday morning in Orbost. Alternate times are available by arrangement and families are welcome to access services at any of GLCH's other sites. Outreach services are available to Cann River, Mallacoota and surrounds.

Modified versions of all other services including Lactation Consultant, Sleep and Settle and Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies will also be offered. "We are thrilled to bring Maternal and Child Health Services to families in Orbost, Mallacoota, and surrounding areas."

Supporting local families

Council CEO Fiona Weigall said the partnership is a good fit. "This is a great partnership that will deliver important outcomes for Orbost and district families. We hope that new families will also discover the resources and programs the library and centre can offer, such as Rhymetime and Storytime and our parenting library collection," Fiona said.

The maternal and child health service can be accessed directly from Lawson Street (Orbost Police Station end of the service centre), or through the service centre and library reception off Ruskin Street. GLCH and council look forward to welcoming the families of Orbost and district.
