By news@gippsland - 7th October 2026 - Back to News Latrobe City residents are encouraged to share their ideas and priorities as Latrobe City Council begins developing its 2027/28 Budget. Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson, said community input played an important role in helping shape decisions about Council spending across the municipality.
Held over Easter, the six-day championships offer Pro, Divisions 1-3, Masters and Women’s competitions, funded through Council’s existing events budget Community budget inputCr Gibson said, "We're starting to plan the next Budget, so now is the time to tell us what's important to you and what you'd like Council to consider. The Budget isn't just about numbers on a page. It's about the services, facilities and projects that help make Latrobe City a great place to live, work, visit and invest. Whether it's improving local parks, maintaining roads, supporting programs or investing in new projects, we want to hear what's important to you." "Every year we must balance the different needs and priorities across our community. Getting community feedback early in the process helps us make choices about financial expenditure in line with these needs and expectations. So, if you have an idea, an issue you think needs attention, or something you'd like Council to consider, I encourage you to get online and tell us now. The earlier we hear from you, the better chance we have to properly consider it as we develop the Budget," she said. From maintaining local roads and parks to libraries, leisure centres, waste and recycling services, community facilities, events, playgrounds and support programs, the annual Budget helps fund a wide range of services that residents use every day. Community members can share their ideas through Council's Have Your Say platform until 5pm on Sunday 1 November 2026. Visit yoursay Latrobe website. Pictures from Latrobe City Council website.
