By news@gippsland - 19th August 2026 - Back to News Baw Baw Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Tilla Buden has announced, "Today, West Ward Councillor Ben Lucas has advised Baw Baw Shire Council he will run as a candidate in the upcoming Victorian State Election which will be held on Saturday 28 November 2026." 
West Ward Councillor Ben Lucas has advised Baw Baw Shire Council he will contest the Victorian State Election on 28 November 2026 Cr Lucas intends to seek a leave of absence at a future date, which will be tabled at a Council Meeting. The leave of absence will remain effective until the election is complete as per the Municipal Association of Victoria guidelines.
