Planning water's future

Following the opening session on 12 September, the second session on 10 October focused on collaboration and learning, with Gippsland Water staff sharing information and answering panel members’ questions. At the third session on 24 October, guest speakers from Water Services Association Australia, Nucleus3, New Plumbing Solutions, Utilities Regulation Advisory and Anglicare shared a range of perspectives with the panel.

Gippsland Water managing director Sarah Cumming said the external perspectives gave panel members access to additional information and expertise as they prepared to develop their recommendations. "The guest speakers covered topics ranging from the national water sector and the financial and regulatory environment for water corporations to the needs of people experiencing vulnerability. The first three sessions have given panel members the opportunity to explore the issues, ask questions and hear different perspectives before they begin developing their recommendations."

The panel will reconvene on 7 November to begin developing its recommendations, before its final session on 14 November. Gippsland Water has committed to implementing the panel’s recommendations to the maximum extent possible. Gippsland Water’s 2028-33 Price Submission will outline the services, infrastructure investments and standards it will deliver over the five-year period.
