Maffra Show celebrates agricultural heritage, community spirit and dedicated volunteers across Gippsland’s farming districtsThe Maffra Show celebrated local agriculture, farming heritage and community spirit, with Darren Chester praising volunteers, exhibitors and competitors for preserving regional traditions and supporting local businesses. By news@gippsland - 27th October 2026 - Back to News The Maffra Show has again put local agriculture, producers and community spirit in the spotlight, bringing together families, exhibitors and visitors for one of the district’s longstanding regional events. Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester attended the show with The Nationals candidate for Gippsland East Gemma Rendell and praised the volunteers and exhibitors who continue to make the event a success.
The Nationals Candidate for Gippsland East Gemma Rendell and the Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester spoke with dozens of locals at the Maffra Show about what is concerning them most in the lead up to the Victorian election next month Celebrating Maffra’s agricultureMr Chester said, "The Maffra Show is a terrific celebration of our agricultural heritage and the people who contribute so much to the strength of this community. Our agricultural shows showcase the hard work of local farmers, producers, competitors and community groups, while giving families a chance to catch up and enjoy a great day out. They also provide an important connection between our farming industries and the broader community, particularly for younger generations." Mr Chester said the ongoing success of events like the Maffra Show relied heavily on the contribution of local volunteers. "These events don’t happen without an enormous amount of work behind the scenes from dedicated volunteers who give their time throughout the year. Their efforts help keep important regional traditions alive and create events that bring visitors into our towns and support local businesses." "It was great to spend some time at the show with Gemma, catch up with locals and see such strong support for one of Maffra’s great community events. Congratulations to everyone involved in organising this year’s show and to all the exhibitors and competitors who helped make it another memorable event," Mr Chester said.
