Latrobe City Council is encouraging the community to join the conversation during Gambling Harm Awareness Week 2026 and learn how we can all play a role in reducing gambling harm in our community. A range of free events will take place across Latrobe City from 24 to 31 October 2026, giving residents the opportunity to learn more about gambling harm and the support available.

Community gambling support

Delivered in partnership with the Gambler's Help team from Latrobe Community Health Service, the week's activities will help community members better understand gambling harm, learn about available support services and start important conversations with family, friends and neighbours.

Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson said Gambling Harm Awareness Week was an opportunity for the community to come together, learn and support one another. "We all know someone who might be doing it tough, and sometimes simply checking in or knowing where to direct them for support can make a real difference."

"Gambling Harm Awareness Week is about starting conversations and helping people know they're not alone. No one should feel like they have to face challenges on their own. We want people to know support is available and help is there when they need it," Cr Gibson said.

This year's program includes community information sessions, workshops exploring gaming and young people's online experiences, and informal community events where residents can connect with support services in a relaxed setting.

Community members are encouraged to attend an event and learn more about how to recognise and respond to gambling harm. For more information or to register for an event, phone Latrobe City Council on 1300 367 700 or Visitor Information Centre on 1800 621 409.
