Korumburra Railway Precinct upgrades new toilet block, shelter, and accessibility features began 11 November 2024
Korumburra Railway Precinct upgrades start November 11, including new accessible toilets, a Changing Places facility, improved shelters, and pathways connecting future development stages like the playground and Skate Park.
Works to replace the toilet block and shelter at the Wayside Stop in the Korumburra Railway Precinct had just began on Monday 11 November and is expected to be completed in three months.
The upgrades and shelter structure enhances accessibility, complements heritage buildings, and connects to future Railway Precinct developments, including South Gippsland's first Changing Places facility
Railway precinct revitalisation
The Korumburra Railway Precinct project includes:
- Demolition of the existing toilet block and replacement with a new structure featuring individual
cubicles and a Changing Places facility - Replacement of the current shelter with a new one, which will feature picnic tables, BBQ, drinking
fountain, power and lighting - Relocation of the existing shelter within the Precinct, ensuring continued use for the community
The new combined toilet and shelter structure has been carefully designed to complement the existing heritage buildings, providing enhanced accessibility and convenience for community members and visitors alike.
This facility will be connected via pathways to future stages of the Railway Precinct development, including the playground and Skate Park. The Changing Places facility will be the first of its kind in South Gippsland, offering essential amenities for locals and travellers with a disability.
Korumburra projects progress
In addition, the existing Rotary shelter will be repurposed and relocated to the north-west end of the site, near the proposed long vehicle parking, to ensure that the Shelter remains an asset for the community.
Temporary public toilets will be available throughout the construction period. To learn more about the projects happening in Korumburra, please visit Korumburra Projects page. For more information about the Changing Places facility, please visit Changing Places website.
