Prestigious IEEE Mechatronics event hosted at Fed Uni, ChurchillOne of the world’s most prestigious electronics events is being held at Fed Uni, Churchill campus next week, bringing international experts in robotics, artificial intelligence, advanced motion control and mechatronic applications to Latrobe City. By Portal Admin - 14th February 2017 - Back to News Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan, said the conference provided a platform to share world’s best practice and an opportunity to showcase local industry.
"This year’s theme, 'advanced mechatronics in service of regional industry', is particularly relevant to the Latrobe Valley. Our industrial landscape is going through significant changes, and with change comes opportunity. Hosting a conference such as this provides networking opportunities for our local industry, to understand what the future of the electronics and mechatronics might look like and to see where their own business might fit in that scene.
"We have a proud history of innovation and cutting-edge technology underlying our heavy industrial work landscape. The specialist knowledge has delivered customised solutions to clients and our local organisations certainly understand the need for quality, precision, responsiveness and innovation. This conference will provide further understanding around what new applications are emerging and how these can be adapted to our own local economy," Cr O’Callaghan said.
"Events like these help cement Latrobe City Council’s commitment to build on our competitive strengths as the Engineering Capital of Australia, which in turn will create a strong, resilient and diversified economy.
"We would like to congratulate Fed Uni for winning the bid to host this event. We look forward to welcoming the organisers, presenters and delegates to our region," Cr O’Callaghan concluded.
