Council Grants For Community Groups

East Gippsland Mayor Harvey Bates has invited community groups, organisations and sporting bodies to apply for funding in the Shire’s 2004/05 Community Small Grants Program.

By East Gippsland Shire Council - 2nd August 2004 - Back to News

"Grants of up to $5,000 are available to support non-profit community organisations, groups, sporting bodies, community halls and recreation reserve committees to develop projects and services that are of benefit to the wider community from the following three grant streams: Community Activities Grants; Community Facilities Grants; and Community Events Grants," Cr Bates said.

Cr Bates said Council funds were limited and submissions might need to be prioritized according to the most urgent, most significant, projects demonstrating wide community support and cash or ‘in kind’ contribution towards the project.

"Community organisations that have been successful in applying for funds over the past 12 months should have completed their final reports by 2 August 2004, to ensure they are eligible for this year’s funding round," Cr Bates said.

Guidelines, funding criteria and grant application forms are available from Council’s Corporate, Library/Business and Outreach Centres and can also be downloaded from Council’s web site at www.egipps.vic.gov.au.

Applications close Monday, 6 September 2004.
