Yarram Pool installs new accessibility pod to improve safety, comfort and inclusion for residents with mobility challengesYarram Pool has installed a new accessibility pod following community feedback, providing safer, more comfortable water access for residents with mobility challenges ahead of the summer swimming season. By news@gippsland - 29th October 2026 - Back to News Residents with mobility and access needs can now enjoy a safer and more comfortable experience at Yarram Pool, with a new pool pod installed and ready for use. The pool pod was identified as a priority through a community consultation group established by Council last year. Through ongoing discussions, community members provided feedback on ways the facility could better support accessibility and inclusion.
Yarram Pool’s new accessibility pod addresses community feedback, improving safety, comfort and inclusion for residents with mobility challenges and access needs Yarram pool accessibility upgradeOne of the key issues raised was the existing accessibility hoist, which many users found difficult and uncomfortable to use. In response, funding was secured to install a pool pod, offering a more accessible and user-friendly way for people with mobility challenges and other access needs to enter and exit the water. Wellington Shire Council Mayor Cindy Madeley said the project shows the value of listening to the community and responding to local needs. "This project came directly from conversations with local residents about how we can make Yarram Pool more accessible and welcoming for everyone. The new pool pod will help more residents access and enjoy the pool. With the Summer Swim Season approaching, the addition comes at an important time, making it easier for more people to get involved and enjoy the facility". The installation of the pool pod is the latest improvement at the facility, following upgrades to the pool's plant room, which were completed last year.
