An exciting calendar of events is planned for the week including the Connect 2005 – Wellington Youth Festival, being held at the Sale Memorial Hall on Thursday 14 April from 1:00pm, with free entry until 6:00pm.

Other activities include making the ‘Do your Doodle’ community youth mural (organised by the Wellington Youth Arts Group), a karaoke competition, theatre sports with the Wellington Youth Theatre Group, digital art and digital photography workshops, free rides and loads of displays.

A major highlight will be a FReeZA gig on 14 April, starting at 7:00pm and featuring an impressive line-up of Aussie bands including Bodyjar, Tiltmeter, Talent not Included and local bands - Foist and Quarterstone.

Tickets are $16 pre-sale or $22 at the door (unless sold-out) and are available from Leading Edge Music in Sale and Traralgon, Fusion Video in Maffra, and the Bakers Community Centre in Yarram.

The council has been on the look-out for the shire’s most creative youth for its National Youth Week Creative Competition, and also for young people and local organisations who have achieved, contributed or made a difference in their community, for the first annual Wellington Shire National Youth Week Awards.

National Youth Week 2005 is a joint initiative of Federal, Victorian, and Local Government and encourages almost 4 million young Australians aged 12-25 to participate in activities and live events.
