Last night we celebrated some of South Gippsland's leading citizens at the Meeniyan Hall for the 2025 Australia Day Awards. Congratulations to our 2025 Citizen of the Year Ian Rasumssen, Young Citizen of the Year Charlotte Ogden, Community Event of the Year 40th Anniversary Meeniyan Tavern Night and all of the worthy nominees. Celebrate Australia Day (Sunday 26 January) in South Gippsland! There are nine community events happening in our region, promising to be a fun filled day for everyone to enjoy. Glow in the Dark Disco

Put on your dancing shoes because South Gippsland Youth Council is hosting an epic Glow in the Dark Disco on Friday, 7 February from 6.00pm to 9.00pm at the Mirboo North Hall!

This event is for young people aged 12 to 18 and promises to be a night to remember with free food from a number of trucks, music, dancing and fun activities. All for just a gold coin donation!

Round Three of the #StopItBeforeItStarts Art Competition is now open! Violence Prevention Australia invites artists, including students, to join this vital violence prevention initiative. Violence prevention is a critical issue in Australia, and creative awareness is more urgent than ever.

The Summer Session at Coal Creek is taking place Saturday 1 February from 4.00pm to 8.00pm. This event promises a relaxed evening filled with live music, delicious food from various food vans and entertainment for kids.

Community grants

South Gippsland Shire Council's second round of Community Grants are now open. Community Grants are an opportunity for Council to give back to local clubs and community groups who give so much to others.

Applications are now open for the South Coast Community Leadership Program. This free six-month course is designed to help community members build their leadership skills, explore new ways of leading, and connect with other like-minded local people.
